never lose the wonder

dear ronnie, 86,
thank you for letting me share your first ever flight.
may we never lose the wonder.

recently, i'd the privilege of sitting next to this darling grandfather who had never flown before. i only realised when he sat next to me, then asked if it was all right if he took the window seat. was initially confused, as his allocated seat was the window seat. but turns out he only knew to look for his row and not the individual seat in each row. we got talking and he told me it was his first flight! he was excited, a little nervous and i just wondered why he hadn't done it sooner. through the flight, he didn't stop peering out of the window and said his hearing aids stopped his ears from popping.

it was a timely reminder that travel is a luxury, not a given, and to be grateful for every opportunity. in that vein, will be posting about our little getaway over the jubilee weekend. do check back over the next few days if you'd like to see!
