bye bye baby

so happy the pup is going to a home where they've more love and resources for him than we ever will. one of the happiest things about breeding is that you only let them go when you know they are going to a better home. and as hobbyists, there's control over the buyers. we are so very picky and i drafted my first ever contract in 2000, including a first right of refusal clause so as to be able to have the pup back should their new owners not want them anymore. such was the extent of my control-freak-ness. thankfully, for the buyers of the subsequent litters, i'd mellowed and learnt to let go better. so no more onerous contracts :) and some times, the new owners keep in touch and while some of the babies from the earlier litters have gone on to exotic places like verona and prague, we know they're parents in their new homes and have a little album of our babies' babies. which is always a gratifying thing :)
